David W. Hazay, age 87, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Holzbar Hazay, entered into eternal life on May 30, 2014. David was a United States Navy Veteran, having served for his country during World War II and was a plank owner on the USS Soley (DD-707). After returning home from the war, David worked as a sheet metal fabricator for General Sheet Metal Works. He had belonged to numerous orginizations, including, the Elks Lodge 1557, VFW, the American Legion, and Sheet Metal Works International Association Local 38. David is survived by his daughter, Barbara Hazay-Beam, and her husband, James Beam, III; his cat, Mickey; his sister, Helen Hazay, of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews, and many friends including his "girlfriends" Lauren, Ruth, Michelle, and Kelly from Nurse on Call; his "Secretary", Jamie, and the girls at the bank; and his neighbors at Inlet Shores, Diane, Larry and the twins; and Dee and Paul, and Pete. In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, David was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Hazay, Irene Dobler, Louis Hazay, and Margaret Schutte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Emery Church, Fairfield. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center.
