John Rigea, age 77, of Fairfield, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2014. Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Dimitrie and Athena Adam Rigea, John had been a Fairfield Town resident for over 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran. He had worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 45 years until his retirement. Mr. Rigea was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church. He was the # 1 Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed going to the beach and had a very outgoing personality and liked spending time with others. Johnny will be fondly remembered as a loving brother and good friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his sisters Mary Rigea of Fairfield and Elizabeth Metsos of Westport. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am DIRECTLY at St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center with the Trisagion Service at 6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Dimitrie Church.
