Gydus, Robert J.
Robert J. Gydus, age 77, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday July 1, 2014 in St. Vincent Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Arlene (Larson) Gydus.
He was born in Windber, PA on Dec. 16, 1936 son of the late Joseph and Anna (Beres) Gydus and a Shelton Resident since 1936.
Bob was a builder in Shelton for over 52 years and owned and operated the R.J. Gydus, Builder. He also was the project manager for the final phase of Aspetuck Village. He was a long time member and the president from 1975 to 1976 of Shelton Builders and Development Association. . He was also a member and past president of the Fairfield County Home Builders Association and was voted the builder of the year in 1998. He became a lifetime member of that association in 2002
Bob was a member of the White Hills Eagles Radio Control Club and a life member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club.
He is the beloved father of Tammy Jack and her husband David; Laura Hurley and her husband Tom, Robert J. Gydus, Jr. and his wife Janine, and Kevin Gydus and his wife Faith; loving grandfather of Jennifer, Emily, Stephanie, Rebecca, Gregory, Kyle, Kevin, Jacob, Johnny; loving brother of Joseph Gydus. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Gydus.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 10:45 am for A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton.
