Condon, Thomas M.
Thomas M. Condon entered peacefully into rest on Monday July 28, 2014 at Griffin Hospital. Born on February 15, 1921 in South Wales, England, son of the late Michael and Margaret Condon, he was married to Dorothy Lourigan Condon for 69 years.
Thomas served our country proudly in World War II with the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service to his country.
He began his career as a Lineman with the United Illuminating Company where he worked for 38 years, until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion for 61 years. Tom looked forward to his weekly shopping sprees with his son Barry and their visits to Central Subalpi Club. At the Subalpi Club Tom and Barry would engage in conversations with friends and local favorites.
Thomas Condon, in addition to his wife Dorothy, leaves behind his 3 sons; Thomas and his wife Lynn of Redding, Barry and his wife Yvonne of Shelton, Douglas and his wife Lisa of Newtown. Pop had six adoring grandchildren, Brett, Sean, Bradford, Scott, Katie, and Meghan. He also leaves behind a sister, Kathleen Cybart of Shelton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Thomas Condon was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon.
Friends are welcomed to greet the family on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton,Ct. from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. On Friday his procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. Donations may be made to National Library Service for the Blind, 198 West Street Rocky Hill, Ct. 06067 or through the funeral director.
