Ramirez, Donna
Donna Ramirez, age 66, of Miami, formerly of Trumbull, passed on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Donna graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University. Donna worked for the Town of Trumbull as a Social Worker and caseworker for senior citizens for over 20 years. She was an active volunteer and member of social service agencies including Action for Bridgeport Community Development (ABCD), the Red Cross, Southwestern CT Agency on Aging, and the Greater Bridgeport Food Bank. In her short retirement, she enjoyed swimming in Florida, relaxing by the pool, and traveling. One of Donna's greatest joys was spending time with her family at frequent gatherings, where she lit up a room smiling and laughing. She thought her greatest legacy was her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jose Ramirez, her three children, Robert Ramirez and wife Nicole (Riccio) Ramirez of Norwalk, CT., Christina Ramirez-Platt and husband Rob Platt of Woburn, MA., and Susan Holder and husband Eddie Holder of Hamden, CT., and her seven grandchildren, Michael Ramirez, Ainsley Ramirez, Ava Ramirez, Emily Holder, David Holder, Jillian Holder, and Charlene Holder. Donna and her family are grateful to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Smilow Cancer Hospital of Yale New Haven and the Connecticut Hospice (Shelton Office). Family and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave., Bridgeport with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
