Janie W. Manning

MANNING Janie W. Manning, daughter of the late Alfred and Eula Williams, was born July 4, 1928 in Manson, N.C. She departed this life on Monday, October 5, 2009 in the comfort of her home. She attended The North Carolina Public School System. Janie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Freddie Manning Sr., May 5, 1953 in Henderson, N.C. To this union five children were born. Janie retired after 35 of service with Fairfield Hills Hospital. Janie was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Stratford until she was unable to attend. She will always be remembered for her strong will, determination and great sense of humor. Every adversity was met with great strength. She was truly a warrior during her sickness. Janie was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother. She truly loved her family. There was nothing too great or too small. She never failed to let her family know how much she loved and appreciated them. She was predeceased by Dwight. She leaves to celebrate her life two sons, Freddie Manning Jr. (Mildred) of Bridgeport and Gary Manning (Mary) of Norcross, Ga.; two daughters, Peggie Brown (Larry) of Bridgeport and Janice Manning (Roland Pratt) of Stratford; three sisters, Emma Meekins of Bridgeport; Alme-tia Hargrove and Dorcas Johnson (Robert), all of Jamaica, N.Y; three brothers, Ervin "Tee" Williams (Robinette) of Richmond, Va., Alfred Williams (Lucy) of Manson, N.C. and Theodore Williams (Laura) of Bridgeport; a special brotherin-law, Willie Polite; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, cousins, friends; and a host of phone buddies. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Stratford, Stratford with Pastor William B. Sutton, III officiating. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Stratford, following the service. Friends are invited to the viewing Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
