Gino Constantino Obituary

CONSTANTINO Gino Constantino, age 97 of Stratford, beloved husband of Josephine (Silva) Constantino, died on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Constantino was retired from Avco-Lycoming Textron where he had been employed for more than 20 years. He loved gardening, fishing and boating. Mr. Constantino was known as "Mr. Fix-It" because he always found repair projects to take care of. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Constantino Sr. and his wife, Betty of Florida and Thomas Constantino and his wife, Charlotte of Westport; three daughters, Linda Constantino of Stratford, Laura Brice of Milford and Mary Ann Martinez and her husband, Joe of California; two sisters, Scrofani Quinta and Justine Garrick; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He had been prede-ceased by his daughter, Edna Constantino Hurley; his son, Gene Constantino; and a grandson, Stephen Mills. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Papa Gino was one of the greatest men I have ever had the honor to be around in my life. He tought me how to be possitive every day, and what life should truly be about. My two little girls will miss there great grampa dearly. Pap should be remembered as a role model, a inspiration, and somebody that every real man in this world should strive to be like. We love you Poppy and will miss you!

My staff and I were sad to learn of Gino's passing (but how wonderful that it was so many years after his doctors in Florida had pronounced him to be near death). He was a delightful man and it was wonderful to see him so spry and engaged in life for all his many years. It was our honor and our joy to participate in his medical care. We shall miss seeing him. We extend our condolences to Linda, her mom and all Gino's family and friends.
