Gene MacGregor Obituary

MACGREGOR Gene Alice (Stout) MacGregor, died of natural causes on Jauary 28, 2011 at her residence in Phoebe Berks Village Commons, where she had resided for the past eight years. Gene was 93 years old. She is survived by her son, Craig MacGregor; daughter-in-law, Lisa MacGregor; and grandson, Collin MacGregor, all residents of Wyomissing. Gene was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in May of 1972. She was a graduate of Easton High School and the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing. Gene was a nurse-midwifery during the 1940s where she administered prenatal care in the rural outskirts of Georgia and Kentucky, often traveling by horseback. Gene married and moved to Connecticut where she worked at Milford Hospital as an obstetrics nurse. She then went on to serve as a school nurse in the Milford Public School system, from which she reitred and went on to volunteer within the state's public health care system until she was 85, when she moved to Wernersville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Phoebe Berks Village Commons, 1 Heidelberg Drive, Wernersville, PA 19565. Edward J.
