BROADUS Ruben James Broadus, Sr., age 76, of Prospect and formerly of Oxford and Florida entered into rest on Friday, January 28, 2011 in St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury. He was the devoted husband of Beatrice (Crowther) Broadus. Mr. Broadus was born in Mobile, AL on Feb. 2, 1934 son of the late Rube Seeb and Eula (Maples) Broadus and he served our country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Broadus was a truck driver for Stevenson Lumber in Monroe for many years until his retirement. He was an avid New York Yankees, New York Giants and University of Alabama Football Fan. He was also a former member of St. Augustine Church and The Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour. He is the beloved father of Ruben James Broadus, Jr., of Acworth, GA, Charles Broadus, of Seymour, William Broadus, of McKinney, TX, David Broadus, of Waterbury, Thomas Broadus, of Terryville, and Susan Broadus, of Prospect. He is the step-father of Janice Petracca, of Vancouver, WA, and the late Robert Buismato, He is the brother of Rev. Stanley Broadus, Larry Wayne Broadus, and Augusta Nelson all of Alabama, and the late Andrew Broadus. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, Rachel, Caitlin, Thomas, Cara, Shane, Brian, Albert, Melissa and Megan, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Honore Kombo officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Shelton in the spring.
