STEVENS Shirley Stevens, age 80 of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late John S. Stevens, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at her home. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Yansick and Margaret Patrick. She was a member of the Black Rock Yacht Club for 56 years as well as a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club for almost as long. Mrs. Stevens was also a member of First Church Congregational in Fairfield. She is survived by her son, John Stevens; daughter, Kimberly Stevens and her husband, Thomas Abate; and her granddaughter, Claire Abate. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at First Church Congregational, Fairfield with the Rev. David Spollett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
