Edwin Pettit Obituary
Edwin Pettit, age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Ida (Messercola) Pettit, entered eternal life Friday, September 21, 2012 in Saint Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mr. Pettit was born November 14, 1926 in Fairfield, Connecticut, son of the late Charles and Catherine (Hook) Pettit and had been a life time area resident. Edwin was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and was retired from Metro North Rail Road. He loved playing cards, enjoyed golfing at Fairchild Wheeler, and was extremely proud of his hole in one. Survivors include his three children, Charles Reilly of South Carolina, Michelle Middlebrook of Milford, and Samantha (Pettit) St. Amand and her husband Alan of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Miranda, Alan; Melody and Paulie; one sister Thelma Stensland; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, Main Street, Stratford. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Friends may sign the online guest book at: www.wrmcdonaldfuneralhome.com

I worked with Ed in the towers forty years ago. He was a good railroad man and a pleasure to work with. Hopefully he enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement. My condolences to his family.
