Leroy Pickett, age 62, of Bridgeport entered eternal rest Sunday, October 21, 2012 at CT. Hospice in Branford, CT. Born in Conway, SC, he resided in Connecticut for fifty years. He was employed with PJ Murphy Moving Company as a truck driver for thirty years. Leroy served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Pickett and Ovellor McNeil, two brothers, Howard Turner and Levester Pickett, one sister, Marguerite Pickett. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Janet Matthews Pickett, two sons, Christopher and John Matthews, one daughter, Ericka McKenzie, four brothers, George, Thomas (Crystal), Cleo and Frank Pickett all of Bridgeport; two sisters, Janet Small of SC; Deborah Gomes of FL; four grandchildren, three godchildren, Natasia Younger, Anaya Matthews, Miles Loyd and several other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 AM at St. John's Community Church, 714 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT with Reverend John Mouning, officiating. Interment will take place following the service at the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown, CT. Friends are invited to the viewing Friday from 10-11 AM at the church.
