Frances Forrester, age 87, of Stratford, the beloved wife of the late Gavin B. Forrester Jr., entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Gardner Heights Health Care Center in Shelton. Born in Burnt Island, Scotland on December 5, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Andrew K. and Frances (Lister) Meldrum. She moved to the United States from Scotland to be with her husband in 1951 living in Milford and Bridgeport before finally settling in Stratford where she lived for the past 49 years. A devoted homemaker and loving mother, one of her many passions was knitting and sewing. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at the Gardner Heights Health Care Center for their compassionate care during the last days of Frances's time here on earth. Frances is survived by her son, Gavin B. Forrester III and his wife Margherita, along with her granddaughter Frances, who gave her so much joy and happiness during the latter years of her life. Frances is also survived by her nephew, George Bell and his wife Nancy; and her niece Jacqueline (Bell) Dogali and her husband Michael. Calling hours are from 10 am to 11 am followed immediately by a funeral service on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will be private. Contributions in Frances's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th FL, New York, NY 10001.
