Paul W. Hronjak of Wilson, NC died at age 70 on November 14, 2012 after a long illness. Paul was raised in Stratford, CT, graduating from Stratford HS in 1960 and Fairfield University in 1964. He is survived by his loving wife Roena of Wilson, NC, and his children: Kurt Hronjak of St. Petersburg, FL; Veronica (Nicki) Hronjak and her husband Guy Miquelon of Montreal; Mary Mooney and her husband Terry Mooney, also of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren. Paul is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Joanne and Robert Litzie, Mary and John Maco , Margaret and Bruce Bodnar - all of Stratford; Ellen and Henry Kopij of Norwich; Alice Engbith of New Haven, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Emil J. Hronjak. Paul was survived by his mother, Viola Brainard Hronjak of Stratford, who recently passed away on 12/11/12. Paul developed a love for track and field in high school and continued to run throughout his life, volunteering at road racing events for over 30 years. He started measuring courses and ultimately achieved a master level of USATF certification, officiating at collegiate track meets in NC and elsewhere. In 1994, he became Eastern Chairman for the Road Racing Technical
Council of the USATF. Paul also served on the board of Southeastern US Masters, Inc., sponsor of the longest running annual masters' track meet in the
country. A memorial service will be held in CT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southeastern US Masters, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit
corporation, at PO Box 9988 Chapel Hill, NC 27515.
