Irving "Jack" John Strang Jr., age 77 of Milford, and previously of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Leona F. Strang passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 after bravely battling lung cancer. Jack was born in Bridgeport on June 13, 1935 to the late Irving and Bernice Strang. He was a retired Bridgeport Fire Fighter and served in the United States Marine Core. Jack is survived by his two children, Kevin Strang and wife Ann Marie of Bridgeport, and Sharon Paquette and husband Dave of Milford, two grandchildren, Matthew and Nikki Paquette of Milford. He is also survived by his brother, Ward and his wife Sisty of Fairfield, two sisters, Lea Brown and husband Larry of Maine, and Bernice Platt and husband Jim of Shelton. Jack is the Godfather to his sister, Bernice and several of his nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Judy Kelly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jack's memory to The Bridgeport Fire Department Employees Federal Credit Union, 3115 Madison Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06606, Attn: Bridgeport Fallen Firefighters Fund, or Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit, 267 Grant St., Bridgeport, CT 06610. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 9:00 AM DIRECTLY in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave., Bridgeport with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery, NY. Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
