Bader, Dorothy
Dorothy L. Bader, age 86, beloved wife of Samuel S. Bader, passed away on August 5 surrounded by loving family. Born in New York City to William and Anna Lipman, she moved to Bridgeport at the age of 10. Dorothy and Samuel were married in 1948 and started a family in Milford where they lived for 43 years. They have been residents of Monroe since 1995. An extraordinary woman of many interests, Dorothy was an award winning artist, breeder of German Shepherd dogs, a Girl Scout leader and more. She was a bookkeeper in the aerospace industry, and upon retirement Dorothy spent 10 years as a crossing guard in downtown Milford. She is survived by her loving husband, Sam; daughter, Wendy (Josh) Searle of Monroe; son, William (Pearl) Bader of VA. Dorothy was the devoted , special "nanny" to her granddaughters, Abby and Allison Gentili. She has a brother, Bert (Joan) Lipman of Danbury, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Ruth L. Sameloff. She will be missed by all who knew her, including her sweet dog,Daisy.Graveside Services will be held, Thursday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Loyalty Cemetery, Burroughs Rd, Fairfield. Shiva will be observed at the home of Wendy and Josh Searle of Monroe, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday evening, August 10 at 9:00 p.m. We would like to express thanks to the Staff of the Jewish Home for the Elderly (especially K-3) for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Haven of North Haven or to the Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield.
