Robert William Lampe, age 88, long-time Fairfield resident.
Robert William Lampe of Fairfield passed away Saturday morning, April 26, 2014 at Lockwood Lodge in Newtown, CT after a long illness.
Robert was the beloved husband of Edith Soper Lampe with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Jersey City, NJ in 1925 to Herman August and Edna Ashmore Lampe, he served in the Army Air Force from 1944 through 1946 and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Bridgeport in 1971. Robert was a long-time employee of the Dixon Sintaloy Co. in Stamford CT and in 1953 he and Edith moved to Fairfield, CT to raise their family. He was an active member and Past Master of the Ashlar Aspetuck Masonic Lodge of Easton, CT. He loved his family and had wide ranging interests.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Edith Soper Lampe and his 3 children, William Lampe of Bethel, CT, Carol Portera of Fairfield, CT, and Susan Lampe-Wilson of Saxton's River, VT, along with 7 grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to: Masonicare/The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 in memory of Robert Lampe. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. Committal will be private.
