Glenn M. Barnhard, age 62, of Fairfield, beloved husband and best friend of Missy Barnhard, passed away suddenly Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Milton and Ruth Barnhard, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 28 years. Glenn received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts where he played the drums in the UMass Minuteman Marching Band. He was a past member of the Fairfield Historic District Commission, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the CT Trust for Historic Preservation. Glenn coached Fairfield Little League and basketball at Wakeman's Boys and Girls Club. My heart goes out to the Barnhard boys who lost an amazing dad. And what do you do when you loose your best friend Missy? Words can't express my sorrow for you ALL but, know that Glenn's loss is felt from far and wide. Some aspire to leave such a legacy and Glenn did just that! Peace.

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of Glenn Barnhard. Glenn was one of the finest men I know. He was always there for me, never said no, and I can still see him hawking those hot dogs and hamburgers at Santa's Arrival and the Arts & Crafts Show, and "lining" the Town Hall Green "stalls" for our events. I have lost a friend and the world has lost a wonderful human being.

Glenn was my friend. He was a quiet, yet incredibly thoughtful and determined Kiwanian who made our members lives better, as well as the Fairfield community, especially his work with our youth. His dedication and his authentic smile will be with me always.

Glenn, I remember your ever-reliable
acceptance of the Treasure-ship for Kiwanis...and the dry sense of humor, creativity and energy that came with it.

What a great contributor! You will be sorely missed as a friend and colleague.
