Walter W. Witkowski, age 83, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Denny) Witkowski. Walter was born in Shelton on October 3, 1931, son of the late Walter Witkowski and Frances Adeline Schlosser Witkowski Goldspink. He was a lifelong Shelton resident. Walter served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478. He worked for the Anthony Julian Railroad Co. in Bridgeport, as well as New England Railroad Co. After retiring, he continued to do what he loved best which was spending time with his family and working along with his two sons. He is the beloved father of Walter Witkowski, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Shelton, Gary Witkowski of Monroe, Donna Herman and her husband Ken of Brigantine, NJ and best buddy Laurel Witkowski of Shelton. He leaves two cherished grandchildren, Jaryd and Dylan Witkowski, his twin sister Clara Occhipinti, sister Hazel Pasqua and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Adeline Margiano. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton on Wednesday, March 18th from 4 to 7 PM. His funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 6:30 PM with Rev. Nick Pavia officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton in the Spring.
