Charles E. Arnett, age 89 of Shelton, entered into his eternal rest on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Virginia Malata Arnett. Mr. Arnett was born in Golden, Mississippi on August 25, 1927 son of the late Grover and Stella (Harrison) Arnett, and lived in Shelton for 30 years. He was a Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. Mr. Arnett was the President and CEO of Tetley Inc. , moving the company's headquarters from NY to Shelton. He later went on to become the Chairman of the Board of Allied - Lyons North American Corp. until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, fishing in the Florida Keys, and most of all spending time with his family.
He is the beloved father of Carolyn A. Shillington and her husband Jerry, Catherine A. D'Aulizio and her husband Thomas, Cynthia A. Pleasant and her husband John, and Cheryl A. Zebendon and her husband Randy. He is the loving brother of Hazel Mohns, Dorothy Wolfe,and Janet Wappenstein. He is the cherished grandfather of Christina Aleman, Steven Shillington, Cara Fantozzi, Craig Taylor, Veronica Pleasant, Ian Pleasant, Andrew Zebendon, Alison Zebendon, and Scott Zebendon. He is the adoring great grandfather of Nicolas Shillington, Anilyn Aleman, Antonio Aleman, and Adrian Aleman. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.He is predeceased by his brother Tommy Wyatt Arnett, and his sister Mary Otott.
Friends may greet his family Sunday (TODAY) from 3 to 5 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Monday friends are invited to go directly to St. Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave. at 10 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be private in Lawn Cemetery in the Spring.
