George Tomassi Obituary
George Tomassi, Jr., 82, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Nancy Tomassi, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2017. Born on July 8, 1935 in New Haven he was the son of the late George and Wilhelmina Tommassi.
George graduated West Haven High School with the Class of 1953. After long careers at Winchester Repeating Arms, Coca-Cola & Pepsi Co., he retired in 1999. George was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed playing, coaching and watching. He enjoyed going on cruises. He also loved visiting the beach and spending time with his family and friends.
George is survived by his children, Georgianne Danley, Geraldine Tomassi, and Anthony (Nicole) Tomassi; their mother, Denelda Tomassi; grandchildren, Sean Danley (Natalie Salcius), Michael and Angela Invernale, Alexa, Anthony, Ava [Carlson] and Aubrianna Tomassi; stepchildren, Christine and Andrea Yandell; granddaughter, Nikki Burr; siblings, William (Joanne) Tomassi and Barbara (Donald) Fucci; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Saint Lawrence Church, 207 Main St., West Haven, CT 06516 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private. Friends and family may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association at https://donatenow.heart.org. To George's family, our sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you all. You were blessed by having him in your family. We were blessed by having him as our life long friend and confidant.
We were so much alike...politics, love of the NY Yankees and God inspired love and respect for our troops. You meet very few people in your life that rise up to the top in you estimation. George was at the top of that list. We will greatly miss him. God bless his soul!
