Funeral service for Jeremy Hatfield, 12, of North Olive Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Walter Gerrells Civic Center. Pastor Phillip Price of Calvary Assembly of God Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the new section of Carlsbad Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at West Funeral Home. Jeremy Michael Hatfield was born in Carlsbad on Nov. 6, 2000. He went to be with Jesus on Sept. 4, 2013.
Jeremy loved all things sports, music and motorcycles. His comical disposition never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. He loved his family, his friends and his Raiders football team with a passion that surpasses most. His aspiration was to be the first famous football player who was also a famous recording artist as well as a Marine. He never dreamed small.
He was preceded to heaven by his grandmother, Alice Martinez; and great-grandfather, Howard Haynes Sr.
He leaves behind to follow him many loved ones including, father, William Michael Hatfield; mother and father, Tammy and Chris Romero; great-grandma, Vera Haynes; and great-grandma, Mercy Loya; grandfather, David Martinez; grandma, Joy Haynes; and grandma, Ester Romero; siblings: Destiny Hatfield, BooBoo Romero, Zalika Hatfield and Christopher "Gordo" Romero Jr.; uncles: Gary Hatfield and George Martinez; aunts: Michelle Martinez, Jessica R. Hatfield, Jessica K. Hatfield, Irene Romero and Linda Romero; as well as many cousins and other family who he loved very much.
Pallbearers will be Gary Hatfield, George Martinez, Anthony Martinez, John White, Tony Baca, Russell Methola and Trey Madrid. Honorary pallbearers are the Carlsbad AV seventh grade football team.
Jeremy, there are no goodbyes for us. Wherever we are, you will forever be in our hearts.
