Willie Richard "Dick" Brown, 83, formerly of Carlsbad, passed away March 18, 2013, in Benson, Ariz., of pulmonary fibrosis. Services were held March 21, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz.
Willie Richard "Dick" Brown was born May 25, 1929, in Artesia, N.M., to Willie Walker "Bill" Brown and Alice (Yost) Brown. He graduated in 1948 from Carlsbad High School and worked at PCA potash mine from 1950 to 1965. He was self-employed as an antique dealer and furniture refinisher in Roswell, N.M., from 1980 to 1994, and in Benson, Ariz., from 1994 to 2005. He retired in 2005.
Dick married Anna Lois Campbell Brown in Carlsbad in 1949, and, after her passing, married Charlotte Smith Brown in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1969.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Lois Campbell Brown; and three sisters: LaRue Rogers, Nancy Shelton and Pat Willburn of Roswell, N.M.
He is survived by wife, Charlotte Smith Brown; son, Willie R. "Bill" Brown Jr. and wife, Jerilyn of Midland, Texas; daughter, Beverly L. Roberts and husband, Sam of Midland, Texas; stepsons: Scott, Greg and Woody Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren: Megan Rutherford Woodbury of Portland, Ore., Walker Riley "W.R." Brown of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Wahi R. Brown of Midland, Texas; and two great-grandchildren.
