Clifton S. "Cliff" Bailey, 92, of Riverside Drive, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at his home. A public memorial service with Masonic Funeral Rites and military honors will be performed at 2 p.m. today (July 7) at Eddy Lodge No. 21 AF&AM, 513 N. Canyon St. Military honors will be performed by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com

Clifton Stanley Bailey was born in Greenville, Texas, Feb. 3, 1921, to Charles S. and Mertie (Eady) Bailey. He was 21 when he joined the U.S. Navy, Sept. 21, 1942, serving faithfully during World War II as an Aviation Radioman Second Class until receiving his Honorable Discharge on Nov. 18, 1945.
He was a charter member of Epworth UMC and a loyal member and past master of Eddy Masonic Lodge No. 21 AF&AM, lifetime member of BPOE Elks 1558 and the Cavern City Rock Hounds.
In his spare time, Cliff enjoyed working with stained glass, collecting Southwestern and Indian artifacts, gemstone cutting, arts and crafts of all kinds, a dedicated rock hound, but his passion was gourmet cooking!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Bailey in 1973; and his son, Stanley S. Bailey in 1979.
Cliff is survived by his grandson, Sterling and wife, Amber Bailey and their children, Alexis, Juliette and Cort of Utah; nephew, Thom and wife, Susan Bailey of Middletown, Va.; niece, Robin Bailey of Holland, Mich.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
