Mr. James Carl Compton, 88, died peacefully on Jan. 23, 2014, at his home in Carlsbad, NM. after a brief struggle with cancer. He was born in Carbon, Oklahoma, on Jan. 16, 1926, son of the late Fletcher and Edna (Williams) Compton, also of Carlsbad. He graduated from Carlsbad High School; and after serving in the United States Air Force, he attended the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering with honors.
He worked as Vice President and General Manager of Anglo-Lautaro Nitrate Corp. in Maria Elena and Santiago, Chile, living there with his family for over 25 years.
