Jim R. Pritchard of Black Forest, Colo., died Sept. 24, 2013, at the age of 74. Jim was born on March 27, 1939. in Carlsbad, N.M. Jim is survived by his daughter Kathleen Corcoran, her husband, Justin, and granddaughters Grace and Allison of Pueblo West, Colo. He also is survived by a sister, Doris L. Muotka of Lynnwood, Wash.; a brother, Jerry M. Pritchard and wife, JoAnn McKenzie of Austin, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elward Lee and Marguerite Pritchard, grandparents Maudie and Wiley Whitley and JB and Mollie Choate; and several of his beloved Labs.
Jim was an avid hunter and was planning another hunt at the time of his death. He bred Labrador retrievers for over 30 years. Jim graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1957, New Mexico Military Institute in 1959 and attended Arizona State University. Jim worked for over 45 years in the high tech industry and moved to Colorado Springs to join UTMC in 1985. He retired from Aeroflex (formerly UTMC) in January of 2009.
A memorial open house will be held Oct.17, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 3400 N. Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs.

Jim did what he wanted, lived the way he wanted, and died peacefully in his sleep, as he would have wanted. He was larger than life and will be missed by many.
