Christy Box Obituary
Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, and 9 a.m. - noon Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Centre with Tim McCarty officiating.
Interment will follow at Box Cemetery, Carlsbad.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Christy Ann Box was born Jan. 2, 1979, in Roswell, N.M. to Claude E. and Sheran A. (Williams) Sims. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1997. Christy married Radell Box on July 4, 1997, in Carlsbad. She worked for Stoller in several areas, most recently as a computer analyst. Christy was also a bookkeeper for their family business. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Gospel Church. Most importantly, Christy loved being a wife and mom. Christy also enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and traveling. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude E. Sims, in 2003 and brother, Jim Sims.
Survivors include: her husband of 11 years, Radell Box of Carlsbad; four beautiful and courageous children: Brittany Box of Carlsbad, Cora Box of Carlsbad, Mason Box of Carlsbad and Cady Box of Carlsbad; mother: Sheran Sims of Carlsbad; two brothers: Claude Sims, Jr. of Muleshoe, Texas and Bobby Sims and wife Janise of Carlsbad; mother and father-in-law: Jackie and Radell Box of the home; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Pallbearers will be: Don George, Cecil Thomas, Brian Fox, Dave Olsen, Johnny Angelis and Mike Waygood.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund intended for her children's education: Christy Box Special Education Fund c/o Wells Fargo, 115 W. Fox St., Carlsbad, NM 88220.

I met Christy way back in Junior High Band, and she was one of my good friends throughout high school. We even double dated for prom '95! I hadn't seen her since graduating in '97, but I never forgot her and I'm so sad that she was taken from this world so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I really enjoyed working with Christy. Every time I needed something, she was always there with the answer. When she came to our Colorado corporate office, I and a few other employees had the pleasure of spending some time with her. I will greatly miss her and my heart goes out to her family.

I worked with Christy a very short time, but in that time I learned what a wonderful mother, wife, friend, co-worker she was. I now work with her good friend and have grown to know her even more. I always believe that things happen for a reason, but its hard to understand the reasons when someone is taken away at such a young age and have such a wonderful life with her husband and children. I know she will be missed and is very loved. May you always find comfort with the memories you have of her.

I was very lucky to have known Christy in junior high and high school. I will always remember her smile and her kind heart. I see both her smile and her kind heart in her children. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time.

Christy was someone special. For such a young person, she was very responsible and mature, not afraid of hard work or afraid to take on additional responsibilities at any time, in fact she relished it. She was one of the few people who could give as good as she got with Don and we loved to watch her do it! She loved those kids of hers and my heart goes out to them.

I worked with Christy for a short time. In that short time she reminded me how important it is that no matter what is going on around you to make the most of what you have. I will never have another "secret pal" as great and wonderful as her. Christy's spirit has moved on but all should know that she will stay alive in all of our hearts forever and ever! My prayers are with all who loved Christy and most importantly her devoted husband and children! You will so greatly missed!

Christy was an inspiration to us all. Although I only knew her for a short time, her courage and good nature made working with her a pleasure. She will be sorely missed but we will hold her in our hearts for a long time to come. May we all strive to be as strong as Christy was with what ever life hands us.
