Donald "Don" Reese, 88, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Landsun Homes. A public funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dan Boyd of First United Methodist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation and burial will be private. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com

Donald David Reese was born to Dr. D.C. and Mellie (Thomas) Reese on Oct. 29, 1925, in Rawlins, Wyo. He moved to Texas as a young boy and then on to Oklahoma City, Okla., where he completed his high school education before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. His naval training led him to the University of New Mexico where he met Carlsbad native, Doris Skinner, and on June 27, 1947, they were married in the First Methodist Church in Carlsbad. Following their marriage, Don returned to school at the University of Oklahoma where he received his B.A. in Geology.
Don became a local State Farm Insurance Agent, but the majority of his working career, he was employed at IMCC and Duval. In his spare time, he enjoyed many different hobbies.
He is survived by his wife Doris and daughter Sharon Evans, both of Carlsbad.
