Kenneth E. Goins, 90, of West Greene Street, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. The Rev. Dennis McKinley of Landmark Baptist Church will officiate. Military honors will be performed by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no visitation. Services are entrusted to West Funeral Home. Kenneth Edward Goins was born to James and Mary Johnson Goins in Lamkin, Texas, on July 2, 1922. He was raised and educated in Dexter, N.M.
Kenneth met Pearl Daubert in 1939, and they were married on March 13, 1941, in Dexter, N.M.
He served his country as a corporal in the US Army Air Corps from 1944-1945. Kenneth and his family moved to Carlsbad in 1946.
He was employed as a face boss at PCA from 1946 until his retirement in 1987. Following retirement, he continued to work part time as a night watchman at PCA.
Kenneth's favorite pastime was woodworking and he was a member of B.P.O.E. 1558.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and son, Eddy Goins.
He is survived by a daughter, Edith Jackson and husband, Floyd of Kingsland, Texas; two sons: Ronnie Goins of Carlsbad and Kenny Goins and wife, Nancy of Amarillo, Texas; brothers: Doyle and Roy Mills, both of Roswell, N.M.; grandchildren: Derran Goins, Danny Goins, Shara Goins and Ryan Goins, all of Carlsbad, and Cody Goins of Elko, Nev.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
