Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Community Church for Michelle Berryhill, 60, of Roswell, with Pastor Rick Hale officiating. Michelle passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Burial will be in Carlsbad at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carlsbad Cemetery.
Michelle was born to Barney Q. Hopkins and Merle Smithson Hopkins on June 4, 1947, in Fort Benning, Ga. She and Charles Berryhill were married July 17, 1993, in Dickens, Texas; he survives her at the family home. Michelle was a professional support associate for Tobosa Development Services. She loved spending time with her family. She was raised in Carlsbad and graduated from Carlsbad High School. She loved her children, was an artist, loved to read and work with ceramics. She was a Spirit Warrior for Christ, passionate about her work at Tobosa and for life.
In addition to her husband, Michelle is survived by three sons: Jeff Becker and wife, Susan of Maine, Steven Becker and wife, Dena of Artesia, and Donald Becker and wife, Sara of North Carolina; two sisters: Sharon Howerton and husband, Doyle of Roswell, and Renae Winters and husband, Don of Carlsbad; six grandchildren: Nathan, Millie, Joni, Cord, Toby and Cameron Becker; stepmother, Rena Hopkins of Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Tom Stalcup and nephew, Randy Howerton.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Tobosa family.
In lieu of flowers, it was Michelle's wish to have donations made to the Gideon Bible Society, P.O. Box 777, Roswell, NM 88202-0777.
