Rudy Doporto, 57, of North 1st Street, Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 2 P.M. - 7 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Oasis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Alberto Alvarez officiating.
Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Rudy Doporto was born Nov. 7, 1955, in Carlsbad to Manuel Saiz and Aurora (Posos) Doporto. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973 and received an Associates degree from ENMU-Roswell. Rudy served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. He drove a truck for over 34 years coast to coast. Rudy drove through 43 of 48 states. Most recently he drove locally for Mesquite Services. Rudy was an avid Redskins fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ramon Romero, Roger Doporto and Ramiro Doporto.
Survivors are daughter Vanessa Doporto of Carlsbad, N.M.; granddaughter, Emilina Rodriquez; siblings: Rachel Mendoza of Carlsbad, N.M., Rose Guerra of Carlsbad, N.M., Ray Doporto of Carlsbad, N.M., Becky Fierro of Carlsbad, N.M., Cheyenne Methola of Carlsbad, N.M. , Ralph Doporto of Anthony, N.M. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Juan Mendoza, Alvin Doporto, Lupe Mendoza, Paul Guerra, Patrick Methola, II, Bryce Lara. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Doporto, Ray Doporto, Henry Doporto, Tony Ellis and Mesquite co-workers.
