Mass of Christian burial for Joe M. Jacquez, Jr., 47, of South Mesquite Street, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (Feb. 3) at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery. There is no vigil planned, and cremation has taken place under the direction of West Funeral Home. Jose "Joe" M. Jacquez, Jr., loving son of Jose R. Jacquez, Sr., and Mary Lou Melendrez Jacquez, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at his sister's home in Roswell, N.M..
Joe was born in Carlsbad on June 2, 1966. He was raised in Carlsbad and was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 246 when he was younger. He was a worker at CARC Inc., Rainbow Recycling for several years and was a contributing member there.
Joe liked listening to music, joking with friends and family, being around children, watching wrestling as well as wrestling around with his brothers and friends. He loved to watch the Green Bay Packers and Broncos play football. Although he had some regrets, Joe wanted to be remembered as being a hard worker who did the best he could with what he had.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Julian Jacquez.
Joe is survived by brothers James, Roy and Joseph Jacquez and sister Brenda Valenzuela and husband Fred, all of Carlsbad; sisters: Susan Escareno and husband Dennis of Alamogordo, N.M. and Josie Brashear and husband Landon of Roswell, N.M. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
