Abel Anaya, 38, of Smedley Road, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Carlsbad. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday (Apr. 4) at San Jose Catholic Church. Father Valentine Jankowski OFM Conv., will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at San Jose Catholic Church. Abel "Ace" Anaya was born in Carlsbad on April 4, 1975, to Enrique "Henry" Anaya Sr. and Rafaela (Martinez) Anaya.
He was raised and educated in Carlsbad and graduated from CHS in 1994.
Ace made a living as a car salesman. He was previously employed at Mich's Auto Sales and was currently working at Tate Branch in Artesia.
Ace was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed Sunday cookouts with friends and family. He never met a stranger and had many friends who loved him. Ace was always there to help anyone who needed him. His niece and nephews were his heart and he loved spoiling them.
He was preceded in death by his mother Rafaela, grandmother Marcelina Soto and nephew Marcus Perez Sr.
Ace is survived by his father Henry Anaya Sr.; sister, Alva Armendarez and her husband Jackie and brother, Henry Anaya Jr., all of Carlsbad; niece, Laura Perez; nephews: Andrew Perez Jr. and Dakota Anaya; six great-nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be James Gonzales, Daniel Urmston, Richard and Nicky Armendarez, Lando Franco, Billy and Eddy Sapien and Danny Morales.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ricky and Jared Franco, Mecayla Armendarez, Henry Anaya Jr., Andrew Perez Jr., Ryan French, Josh Hernandez and his great-nieces and great-nephews.
