Clint McKie Sr., 57 of Carlsbad, passed away on May 15, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. There is no visitation and the family will hold a Memorial service at Calvary Assembly of God Church at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, with Pastor Phillip Price officiating.
Military Honors will be performed by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. Gathering for family and friends will be held at the Spanish Assembly of God Church, 129 Kircher Street, following the services. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com
Clint was born on March 31, 1957, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Phillip and Bernice McKie Sr. Clint attended Coloma High School in Coloma, Mo., prior to enlisting in the US Army for Military Police at Fort McClellan in Alabama.
Clint and Elfidia Duarte McKie were married in 1982 in Carlsbad, N.M. He owned and operated several businesses including McKie Mobile Home Service in 1983, McKie Construction in 1996 and most recently Desert Sun Residential and Commercial Inspections in 2010. Clint was honored in the "Cambridge National Registry of Who's Who" five different times for his accomplishments in businesses and publishing.
Clint loved song writing and singing. He also loved fishing, hunting, bowling and other outdoor activities with his family and friends. He was a published author of "Mobile Home Repairs." Clint adored spending time playing with his grandchildren, you could often find them on "Grandpa's" lap playing computer games and learning the trade of the business. Clint along with his son would often go fishing and panning for gold, they also enjoyed using their metal detectors to dig up old treasures.
Clint is survived by his wife, Elfidia, son, Clint (Courtney) McKie Jr. and grandchildren Haylee McKie and Clint McKie III, all of Carlsbad, stepdaugher Monica Moreno of Montana, mother Bernice McKie, sister Kellie Shilander, brothers: Phillip McKie, Jr. and Kenner McKie of Michigan and Scott McKie of Texas, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Phillip McKie Sr.
