W.H. "Hobby" Miller, 75, of Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet, Texas.
He was born Dec. 18, 1935, to Elijah Hobson Miller and Ruth Nell Sheppard in San Saba, Texas. He married Peggy Bramblett April 20, 1957, in Goldthwaite, Texas, and moved to Carlsbad in 1960 from Kermit, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was a maintenance manager at the potash mines and a member of the Potash Miners Hall of Fame in New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Hobson and Ruth Nell Miller; wife, Peggy Bramblett Miller; son, Phillip Miller; and sister, Patsy Ruth Miller
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Miller and wife, Sandy of Lampasas, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Simpson and husband, David of Burnet, Texas; six grandchildren: Sierra Miller, who was PawPaw's Baby Girl, Cassie Miller, Colby Miller, Joey Simpson, Chance Carter and Brian Cude; five great-grandchildren: Kambreigh, Kaitlin, Kinsley, Sophie, McKenzie, Seth and Brandy; brother, John Alex Miller and wife, Celia Ann of Georgetown, Texas; sisters-in-law: Patsy Wilcox and husband, Bob of Goldthwaite, Texas, and Carolyn Hampton and husband, Doug of Bangs, Texas; and brothers-in-law: Carlton Bramblett and wife, Linda of Bangs, Texas, and Pete Bramblett of Goldthwaite, Texas.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today (Aug. 2) at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home, 1415 Parker St., Goldthwaite, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel with Doug Holtzclaw officiating. Interment will be in Big Valley Cemetery, Mills County, Texas.
