Dover Leon "D.L." Magby was born to Dover Wiley and Helen Josephine (Watson) Magby on Sept. 21, 1963, in Carlsbad. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad.
D.L. was a funny, talented and wonderful man. He would give his last penny or the shirt off his back but never his denim vest. Most people cannot remember ever seeing him without it. D.L. was one of a kind, always wore a smile on his face and loved to make others smile along with him. He was a character in life who cannot ever be replaced. He loved playing his guitar and spending time with family, especially his three grandbabies who were more precious to him than anything.
D.L. was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly by those who were blessed enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Dwain Magby; and grandparents, Jess and Bess Magby and Lem and Ozella Watson.
D.L. is survived by his sons: Josh and wife, Kristin Magby of Crosby, Texas, Wesley Magby of Loving, N.M., Dover "Rocky" Magby and Chris Holliday, both of Dexter, N.M.; brothers: Dudley and wife, Marie Magby of Hagerman, N.M., Lemuel D. and wife, Tammy Magby of Carlsbad; sisters: Rebecca and husband, Jim Duffin of Carlsbad, Kay and husband, Ron Gleghorn of Lubbock, Texas, and Dena and husband, Dan Sloane of Markham, Texas; grandchildren: Chloe Holliday of Houston, Texas, and Kennedy Magby and Brody Magby of Crosby, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
