James Howard Moyers, 88, of Truth or Consequences, NM, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the NM State Veterans Home in T or C. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. (Monday) January 7, 2013, at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Brunson of New Covenant Church, Plainview, TX officiating. Burial will follow in the new section of Carlsbad Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Carlsbad Veteran's Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday 1-8 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to service time at West Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at
James Howard Moyers was born to Oscar and Mabel Moyers on October 29, 1924 in Crosbyton, TX. He was raised and educated in Crosbyton before serving in active duty with the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Following the war he continued his military service, serving until January of 1948.
James and Betty (Fancher) Moyers were married in Amarillo, TX in 1950. They moved to Carlsbad from Lovington, NM in 1962. He was self-employed as a brick layer for all of his working life.
James was preceded in death by his wife, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
James is survived by his son, James W. Moyers and daughter Marilyn Mayberry, both of Albuquerque, NM; sisters: Hetti Mann of Amarillo, TX and Mary Doss of Lubbock, TX; 4 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Jason, Jonathan and Boyd Moyers, Salvador Anaya, Robert Wallace and Sean Williams.
