Teri Able, 65, of North 1st Street, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Steve McCutcheon of the Carlsbad Caverns Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Theresa "Teri" Antoinette Able was born to Horace and Betty (Granet) Morelli on Aug. 1, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She moved to Carlsbad in 1964 and graduated from CHS in 1967.
Teri and Charles Able were married in November 1968. She worked as a nurses' aid for many years at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Her passion was feeding the less fortunate, and she helped coordinate the Carlsbad Community Kitchen in the early 1990s. She received numerous awards for her efforts including Humanitarian of the Year by the Carlsbad Community Foundation.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles Able.
Teri is survived by son Buck Able and daughter Brandi Walker; sisters: Carol Worley and Lois George, all of Carlsbad; brothers: Robert Morelli of Stevensville, Md., Richard Morelli of Carlsbad, Steven Morelli of Stewartdraft, Va., and Charles Morelli of Madison, Ala.
