Elmer L. West Sr., 77, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Robertson County, Jan. 19, 1936 to Nina Lenora Poe West of Stuart, Fla. and the late Louie Thomas West. He was a city volunteer firefighter, worked with a family owned business of 29 years, West Ashland Service Station and was a former employee/retired with Eaton/Grede and loved farming. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Allen West.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Dennis West; a son, Elmer L. (Gina) West Jr., Cynthiana; two daughters, Patricia Ann (Dwayne) Jenkins, Cynthiana and Nina Lenora West, Lexington; four brothers, Billy Owen West, Robert Logan West and Maurice Glenn (Wanda) West, all of Cynthiana and Gary Lee (Alice) West, Florida; two sisters, Imogene (Bob) Wilson and Donna (David) Malone, both of Cynthiana; and five grandchildren, Weston Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Tyler West, Haley West and Hilary (Clint) Gaunce.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 29 at Ware Funeral Home by the Rev. Curtis Coots. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Silas Baptist Church or Connersville Christian Church.
Pallbearers were: Weston Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Tyler West, Haley West, Hilary Gaunce, Johnathan Malone and Clint Gaunce.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Joe Amos Nichols, Raymond Poe, David Malone, Larry Dennis, Jerry Jenkins, Paul Tolson, Larry Woodruff, Larry Duncan, Gary Price, Wayne Wright and Norvel Glascock.
