David W. Kennedy, 78, Cynthiana, died Jan. 24, 2013 at his residence.
He was born May 8, 1934 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Paul R. and Evelyn Williams Kennedy. He was retired from Eastern Kentucky University, an employee of the City of Cynthiana, a United States Marine veteran who served in the Korean War
from 1953 to 1956 and a two time recipient of the Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Cynthiana Country Club and Cynthiana Christian Church where he served as deacon.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Williams Kennedy Jr.
Survivors include: his wife, Connie Bradley Kennedy; two sons, James M. (Stacey) Kennedy and their children, Amanda Linville, Chase Adams, Brittany Ritzman and Amy Newby, Berea and Mike (Cheri) Kennedy and their daughter, Mikayla Kennedy, Lexington; the mother of his children and special friend, Mary J. Kennedy; a brother, Paul R. (Joan) Kennedy Jr., Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; a sister, Marilyn (Dick) Smythe, Marietta, Ga.; four step children, Genie (Terry) Gregg, Cynthiana, Gracie (Gilbert) Skinner, Cynthiana, Steve (Cindy) Rogers, Tennessee and Richard Rogers, Florence; 11 step-grandchildren, Tony (Julie) Gasser, Danny Gasser, Amanda Sosbe, Becky Hall, Larry Baldwin, Tammy (Rick) Bale, Sabrina (Shane) Hatcher, Stevie Rogers, Josh (Hope) Rogers, Leigh Ann (Ben) Foret and Jeremy (Victoria) Rogers; and 17 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28 at Ware Funeral Home by Dr. Larry Bishop and Dr. Tim Teater. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
