Mitchell Walters, 88, Cynthiana, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Magoffin County, June 13, 1925, to the late Daniel Boone ""D.B."" and Geneva Lykins Walters. He was a member and deacon at Union Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel recipient and will be missed by all those who he loved and influenced. He was a retired occupational therapist for the VA Medical Center and during his time there he won multiple awards for the many prosthesis's he designed, one he was most proud of was for a child at the Shriner's Hospital. He also enjoyed mechanical hobbies, for example, he taught himself how to repair televisions and succeeded in building a go kart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Marie Jackson Walters; a son, Corporal David Morgan Walters and a great-granddaughter, Daisy Marie Hignite.
Survivors include: two sons, M.B. ""Bruce"" (Molly Caskey) Walters, Cynthiana and Larry (Sue Carman) Walters, Lexington; a daughter, Debra Walters Hignite, Cynthiana; 11 grandchildren, Jerry Walters, Dawn Hill, Darlene Rice, Mitchell Bruce Walters II, Suzanne Michelle Coulter, Amiee Thornberry, Heather Sims, Natalie Schreiber, Britt Gasser, Harold David Hignite, and Morgan Linville; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Arnold Kiser. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Walters, Mitchell Bruce Walters II, Harold David Hignite, Patrick Radford, Jacob Tzouanakis and Adam Hill.
