Bill R. Dunaway (1935 - 2014)

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Bill R. Dunaway, 79, was born in Richmond, Ky. on Feb. 27, 1935 and died at his home in Ocoee, Fla. on June 5, 2014.
He was the son of the late William and Opal Dunaway formerly of Cynthiana. He graduated from Harrison County High School on May 24, 1953, Eastern Kentucky University, with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in accounting and business administration. From the time he was a young boy he loved to count things. He spent 17 years of his professional career at WeatherKing, an air conditioning manufacturer, designing, implementing and perfecting all financial processes of the company. He loved the role he played there and never considered it work.
In 1998, Bill retired and a few months later, his second grandson was born. He was never busier. He babysat and picked Sam and Michael up from school daily from that point on. If he hadn't been an accountant, he might have been a farmer. He loved working in his garden and raising all kinds of vegetables and he loved his tractor. He had citrus trees and a garden every year.
His priority was always his family and providing for them. He was selfless. Charlotte and the kids always got the new car, Bill got the hand-me-down one. He invested in his family, from speech therapy for Billy, to private schools, to buying his daughters new cars, to college education and two weddings.
He was very independent, never asked for help, never borrowed from his neighbors and hated having to finally get a yard service.
He was proud of his 1953 graduating class of H.C.H.S. and always looked forward to the class reunion. His last trip to Cynthiana was September 2013 for his 60th class reunion.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Ramage Dunaway, a beautiful girl from Kentucky he met in Orlando, Fla.; his son, William Brian Dunaway; two daughters, Scarlett Lynn (Randall) Root, and Kristi Rae (Corey) Tilton; and three grandchildren, Samuel and Michael Root, and Madeleine Sophie Tilton. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services were held at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem, Ky. on Wednesday, June 11. Burial was in Dyer Hill Cemetery, Burna, Ky.
