Charles Allen Snapp, 81, Cynthiana, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1935 in Bourbon County, Ky., a son of the late Elmer and Naomi Snapp. He was a lifelong Harrison County dairy, tobacco, grain, and beef cattle farmer, and throughout his years of farming received numerous awards from Harrison and Bourbon Counties, for his practice of soil and water conservation, and awards on the national level in 1964, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1985 and 1986 from the National Endowment for Soil and Water Conservation.
In 1975 the University of Kentucky recognized and awarded him for his progressive dairy farming practices. His expertise in his farming operation was shared through the University of Kentucky by way of the many visitors brought to his farm from Kentucky, other states, and countries including; Japan, New Zealand, Nepal, Germany, for tours of the dairy farm, on a local level through the years, Charles invited many Harrison County School children the opportunity to visit his farm.
He was preceded in death by a brother James Snapp and sisters, Dorothy Snapp and Ruby Rorer.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Lois Cain Snapp; his children, Steve (JoAnn) Snapp, Barry (Kim) Snapp, Lisa Snapp and Art (Becky) Snapp; two sisters, Pauline Cummins of Harrison County and Betty Plymale of Lexington; a brother, Harold (Joe) Snapp of Corbin; his grandchildren, Chad and Austin Snapp, Erica Shadd, Jamie Snapp, Travis and Matthew Wigglesworth, Justin and James Snapp; and his great-grandchildren, Jared, Jenna and Jaxson Snapp.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Jerry Watkins. Burial will follow the service in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.
