Charles Harcourt Switzer, 84, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away May 1, 2015 at Cleveland Clinic.
Charlie was born in Cynthiana on Dec. 15, 1930 to the late Robert Walter and Loucille McCauley Switzer. He went to Oddville High School and graduated from the University of Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. On June 25, 1950 he married Julia Maureen Ross.
He was a prominent Realtor, Auctioneer and Insurance agent and former owner of Charles H. Switzer and Associates in Cynthiana, Ky.
He was a member of The Kentucky Auctioneers Association for 50 years and served on The Kentucky Board of Auctioneers for 26 years, was President of The Kentucky Auctioneers Association and inducted into The Kentucky Auctioneer's Hall of Fame, and was a member of the National Auctioneers Association.
Charlie served as President of The Cynthiana Rotary Club, Harrison Deposit Bank Director and was a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church.
Mr. Switzer is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Susan Switzer (Joe) Wilson, Hot Springs, Ark. and Sara Switzer (Jim) Anderson, Marietta, Ga.; his five grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Wilson (Mathew) Joseph, Meredith Wilson (David) Brewer, Spencer Ross Wilson, Marian Altman Anderson and Jacob Charles Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Charli Ann, Olivia and Corbete Joseph, along with Owen and Ethan Brewer; siblings, Lou Mary (Royce) Pulliam, Anne (Herb) VonGruenigen and Robert M. (Mara Beth) Switzer.
His brother, Karrol Lee (Dorothy) Switzer, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Cynthiana Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Brian Kearns and the Rev. Wayne Spivey. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow the service in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Switzer, Stuart Switzer, Royce Pulliam, John Walter Switzer III, Greg Mulberry and Shawn Ritchey. Honorary pallbearer is Oscar Hutchison.
Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oddville Alumni Scholarship Fund, 183 Culpepper Drive, Cynthiana, KY 41031.

May God bless you in your time of sorrow. Your family is in the collective prayers of everyone at the Kentucky Board of Auctioneers. Mr. Switzer served this Board, and the Citizens of the Commonwealth with honor and distinction. He will be missed, and fondly remembered by all of us.
