Danny R. Farmer, 67, Sadieville, Ky., died Thursday, July 27, 2017.
He was born in Grundy, Virginia, Oct. 11, 1949, to the late Hassel Farmer and Ruth Carol Looney Farmer, and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Farmer Fields and a brother Lanny Hassel Farmer.
He was a Sergeant in the Army from 1969 to 1971 and retired as a Purchasing Agent for the Kentucky American Water Co. in Lexington, Ky., after being employed there 38 years. A member and deacon of Sadieville Christian Church, an avid bluegrass music lover, he started a family bluegrass band Luke Creek. He also was a banjo picker for CountryBlu and the Bluegrass Gospel Travelers of Cynthiana, Ky., and Look Out Below. He influenced many with his talent and love for music.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myrl Lois Justus Farmer; his daughter, Jessica Marie Farmer Webb, Cynthiana; a son, Danny Ray (Donna) Farmer Jr., Cynthiana; a brother, Bruce Allen (Jeniffer) Farmer, Sadieville; three beautiful granddaughters, Danielle Renee Farmer, Araya Hope Farmer and Debra Lois Webb; an honorary daughter, Tawana Crystal Fields (Mike) Hillard, Corinth; and three sons, Isaac Neil, Aaron Wesley, and Lucas Michael Hillard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will conducted 1 PM Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. at Sadieville Christian Church by Pastor Scott Meadows, with burial in Sadieville Cemetery. Friends may call at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, Cynthiana, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.
