Dianne Jeanne Poindexter (1938 - 2015)

Dianne Jeanne Poindexter, 76, Elkins, W.Va., formerly of Cynthiana, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015.
She was born Oct. 23, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Mich., a daughter of the late James Schwander and Virginia McCarthy Richards, and was preceded in death by a brother Richard Schwander.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Prayer Church, in Elkins, and attended First United Methodist Church and Church of the Advent Episcopal, in Cynthiana. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling. In 1989 she was appointed as a board member, by the Governor of West Virginia, to the West Virginia Board of Parole and Probation, and retired from the state of West Virginia, having served as the Eastern Regional Director of Probation and Parole.
She lived in Cynthiana from 1962-1984, and was a founder of the Community Christmas Project, was a board member of the Comprehensive Mental Health Center, and was a former member of the Woman's Club of Harrison County.
Survivors include: one son, Robert Harold "Bobby" Poindexter III, Cynthiana; one daughter, Kiren Alecia Poindexter, Lexington; nephew, Scott Schwander, Traverse City, Mich.; cousin, Cathy Gillis Retzo, Michigan; and special friends, Jeanne Johnson, Roger, Debbie and Zach Tysor of Elkins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Paul Briscoe. Burial will follow the service in Battle Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lockport Baptist Church, Pleasant Green Baptist Church or Cynthiana Presbyterian Church.
Pallbearers are: Stephen Green, Clint Cummins, Bill Selin, Rob Selin, Lyle Dorsey,  and David Mitchell.
Honorary Pallbearer is Tommy Robb.
