Dottie Deane Nichols, 84, Berry, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Born in Nicholas County, Aug. 23, 1932, to the late Enoch and Lorena Whirles. She was a homemaker and a member of Berry United Methodist Church, Berry Senior Citizens and the Berry Homemakers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt who raised her and she called Mom, Wilsoleane Nichols; two sisters, Barbara Woodward and Sandy Howard, and a grandson, Jason Nichols.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall Nichols, Sr.; two sons, Marshall (Mary) Nichols Jr. and Dana Dean (Sandy) Nichols; two daughters, Bobbie Sue (Richard Phillips) Bickers and Vickie Jo (Victor) Cantu; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home by Earl Gross and Charlotte Pincher. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Berry United Methodist Church, c/o JR Nichols, P.O. Box 21, Berry, Kentucky 41003.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Richie, Jonathan Spencer, Zach Nichols, Justin Nichols, Mike Nichols, Eric Ashcraft, Scotty Collier and Gene Blanton. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, great grandchildren, Billy McNees, Larry Rogers, Jimmy Graves and J.D. Collier.
