Edith Maxine Browning (1916 - 2013)

Edith Maxine Wells Browning, 97, Cynthiana, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.
She was born in Whitley County, Sept. 2, 1916 to the late William and Dovie McFarland Humphrey. She was a seamstress, house cleaner, farmer, high school lunchroom attendant and a nurse's aid at Edgemont Health Care Facility and also after retirement as a private sitter. Her hobbies were flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking and loving her family and animals, including her Yorkie, Baby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Calvin Browning; son, Charles E. Browning; two brothers, William Edgar Wells and Billy Humphrey; a sister, Edna Wells Slade; two grandsons, Dr. Gary Michael Browning and Jason Wells Browning.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Cason Browning and Lance Wells (Cindy) Browning, both of Cynthiana; daughter-in-law, Ester Browning, Harrison County; 11 grandchildren, Robert Browning, Keith Browning, Lee Browning, Laura Courtney, Donna Browning, Debra Lybrand, Greg Browning, Lisa Mitchell, Destiny M. Browning, Anthony Huff and Beth Huff Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In recent months, she has been attended by Elaine Tubbs and Bonnie Harney.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Ware Funeral Home by the Rev. William Gaunce. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the , Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter.
