Effie Mae Lemons, 84, Cynthiana, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at her residence.
She was born March 18, 1931 in Lewis County, Ky., a daughter of the late William Harrison and Rhoda Alice Read Fetters, and was preceded in death by four infant children, her son David Lee Gilkison, step-son Steven Eugene Lemons, brothers, Arnold Harrison and Bruce William Fetters, sisters Loraine Fetters Short, Mildred Frances Fetters, Elizabeth Belle Himes, Lola Myerl Williams and Opal Marie Baker.
She enjoyed sewing and gardening, was an artist and did many paintings and drawing throughout the years, and was a member of the 1st Church of God in Paris, Ky.
Survivors include: her husband, Don Luther Lemons; son, John William Lemons, Cynthiana; daughter, Sharon Ann Huffman, Lexington; step sons, Donny Lemons, Georgetown and Thomas Wayne Lemons, Mt. Olivet; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at 1st Church of God, 200 Bethleham Rd., Paris, Ky. Burial will follow the service in Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Pallbearers: Luke and DJ Lemons, Kriss Huffman, Jake Jones, Ronnie Reffett and Chuck McCann.
Honorary pallbearers: Allen Northern, Daniel Craig and Ronnie Saxon II.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass. Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
