Elwood T. Forsythe, 86, Cynthiana, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born in Harrison County, July 25, 1927 to the late Anthony and Lillian Courtney Forsythe. He was an MP for the United States Army for 20 years and the Harrison County jailer for 14 1/2 years. He was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #18, 793 Military Police Association, Odd Fellows Lodge #127, FOP Thoroughbred Lodge #37 and the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Forsythe and a niece, Patty Doyle.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Harding Forsythe; a son, Wayne Forsythe, Cynthiana; two daughters, Sheila (Jim) Bergquist, Winchester and Mary (David) Smoot, Harrison County; two brothers, Charles (Louise) Forsythe and Richard (Mary) Forsythe, both of Harrison County; five grandchildren, Charles Wayne ""C.W."" Hargis, Jennifer (Bryan) Smith, Rodney Martin, Julie (Nate) Leggett and Danelle Hargis; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Abigail, Brady, Brenne, Presley, Blake, Parker and Grayson Smith, Haley Martin and Dalton Leggett; five nieces; two nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Wayne Tolson. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
